Bowfin Environmental Consulting

Bowfin Environmental Consulting was incorporated in 2002 to provide high quality terrestrial and aquatic environmental consulting services for private and public sectors. The company is owned and operated by Michelle Lavictoire (B. Sc. Wildlife Biology and M. Sc. Natural Resources) who has worked in the environmental consulting field since 1997. Since it was established Bowfin has completed projects within Ontario, Quebec Nunavut, and Northwest Territories. This work has included natural heritage studies for lot severances, land-use development (commercial and residential development), linear development (roadways, gas pipelines, waste water and water treatment facilities), renewable resource development (solar facilities, anaerobic digestors, small hydroelectric projects and wind farms), and aggregate developments (pit and quarries). Bowfin’s services include: • Route selection • Environmental screening and impact assessments • Terrestrial and aquatic habitat assessment and inventories • Boat electrofishing • Species at risk inventories and compensation plans • Butternut health assessments • Development of mitigation measures and offsetting measures for authorizations under the Endangered Species Act and the Fisheries Act. • Environmental protection plans • Monitoring during construction • Peer review • Public consultations Bowfin’s staff include those trained or certified in: Ecological Land Classification, Ontario Wetland Evaluation Systems, Ontario Stream Assessment Protocol, North American Benthological Society Taxonomist (Certified to Family Level), Butternut Health Assessors, Bat Maternity Sites, Electrofishing, Ontario Freshwater Mussel Identification, Ontario Fish Identification, and Ministry of Transportation certified for Fisheries Assessment, Environmental Inspection during Construction, Fisheries Compliance during Contracts and Natural Sciences and Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control.
