SDG COUNTIES, Ontario - The Pittston Creek Bridge is getting a major upgrade, thanks to the collaborative efforts of four area municipalities.
SDG Counties, the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, the Township of Edwardsburgh-Cardinal, and the Municipality of South Dundas are working together to the rehabilitate the Pittston Creek Bridge and the associated roadway paving works along Pittston/Hainsville Road.
By working together on both the bridge rehabilitation and resurfacing work, the municipalities are able to improve project efficiency, streamline construction scheduling, reduce disruptions to residents, and achieve cost savings through a coordinated tendering and construction approach. This partnership ensures the work is completed in a practical and cost-effective manner while maintaining the long-term safety and reliability of this important transportation corridor.
Bridge project information
SDG Counties and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville have shared ownership of the Pittston Creek Bridge, located approximately 300m South of Webb Road. The structure is due for a comprehensive rehabilitation this year. The project was awarded to Willis Kerr Contracting as part of a competitive tendering process. During this work the bridge will be fully closed to traffic with a signed detour in place directing local traffic around the closed structure. The bridge will have a full road closure being implemented on June 8. The roadway is expected to be reopened to traffic in late October.
Roadway paving
The Municipality of South Dundas and Township of Edwardsburgh-Cardinal, through competitive tender, have scheduled to complete hot mix resurfacing and granular shouldering of the Pittston/Hainsville Road from County Road 22 (Shanly Road) easterly to Webb Road as part of a collaborative assignment. During this work traffic will be restricted to a single lane with flagging operations controlling traffic through the work zone. This resurfacing work is scheduled to be completed in advance of the closure of the Pittston Creek Bridge.
Project impacts
As stated above, the road will be closed to all traffic and pedestrians while construction is underway. This closure is necessary to complete the work safely and efficiently. We understand that construction projects can be inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.
Detour route
The detour route around the project site will include County Roads 1, 18, 21 and 22.
