VIDEO GAME MANSION

From retro consoles to trading cards, Video Game Mansion is more than a shop... it’s a community hub for gamers and collectors!

In the heart of Chesterville, two lifelong gamers have turned their passion into a thriving destination for collectors, players, and families alike. Video Game Mansion, owned by Brandon and Matt, officially opened its doors on June 1, 2024, and has quickly become a hub for all things gaming and geek culture.

The shop offers an impressive variety of products, from retro to modern video games, consoles, and accessories. Whether you’re after an NES classic, the latest Nintendo Switch release, or anything in between, the shelves are stocked with treasures for every type of gamer. Beyond video games, customers can browse Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon trading cards, collectible plush, and plenty of geek-inspired merchandise.

What sets Video Game Mansion apart is not just what they sell, but how they invite people to connect. The 1,200 sq. ft. space is designed as much for hanging out as it is for shopping. Visitors can relax at tables, open packs of cards, or jump into a free-play gaming session on one of the many consoles set up around the store. Nostalgic touches, like VHS tapes of classic movies playing daily, give the shop a warm, welcoming vibe that makes customers want to stay a while. “We don’t just sell games, we sell nostalgia,” Brandon and Matt explain, and their community-focused approach reflects that philosophy.

The journey to opening Video Game Mansion was years in the making. Both Brandon and Matt began by collecting and reselling games on a small scale. Brandon sold at flea markets and events, while Matt built an online business and later expanded into booths at McHaffie’s Flea Market in Morrisburg. Their paths crossed at local events, where the idea of opening a store together first took root. When the opportunity to move into a Chesterville storefront came up, they seized it, transforming their shared passion into a business.

Growth came quickly, and by May 2025, the shop expanded by knocking down a wall into a neighbouring unit. This expansion was supported through the SDG Regional Incentive Program, which helped the owners add more retail space, product displays, storage, and even air conditioning — a much-needed improvement for the sunny location. The grant allowed Brandon and Matt to open the store up further to the community and host in-house events, building on their vision of a welcoming space where people can gather and share their love of games.

Looking ahead, Video Game Mansion is set to continue bringing the community together through larger-scale events. Their recent SDG Geek-Con 2.0, held at the Chesterville District Arena in August 2025, welcomed more than 60 vendors and 500 guests for a celebration of gaming, comics, toys, and collectibles. With plans to return in May 2026, Geek-Con promises to be a staple event for fans across the region.

From humble beginnings in flea markets to a thriving storefront, Brandon and Matt’s journey is proof of what passion, dedication, and community spirit can build. Video Game Mansion is more than a store, it’s a place where memories are made, friendships are formed, and nostalgia is always in play.
