Emeric and Sylviane founded their farm in Williamstown, Ontario after years of living and working across Canada and abroad. Drawn to SDG Counties for their rural charm, strong agricultural roots, and proximity to family, they saw an opportunity to create something lasting and meaningful, both for themselves and for the wider community.
Their shared passion for sustainability and connection to nature led them to launch a farm grounded in regenerative, organic, and permaculture-inspired methods. What began as a personal commitment to low-impact living has since grown into a purpose-driven business focused on environmental stewardship, healthy food systems, and building community through thoughtful land use.
Emeric and Sylviane’s vision has come to life through a thriving, multifaceted farm experience that welcomes visitors year-round. Their farmstay Bed & Breakfast offers guests the chance to slow down and reconnect with nature - while enjoying thoughtfully prepared, organic meals made with ingredients grown right on the farm. The experience is quiet, grounding, and deeply connected to the land.
Building on that foundation, the couple has steadily expanded the farm’s offerings to include a new Farm Café and event space, designed to reflect their values of sustainability, community, and quality. The café brings together rustic charm and a clean, modern aesthetic, serving up organic sourdough breads, buttery European-style pastries, locally roasted espresso, and seasonal meals that highlight the agricultural richness of Eastern Ontario. Whether guests come for a quick coffee, a family meal, or a day trip in the countryside, the café offers a welcoming and memorable experience.
Ferme Butte & Bine Farm has also become a gathering place for special events, from intimate weddings and baby showers to team-building retreats and community workshops. The event space offers both indoor and outdoor settings, creating a unique and flexible venue where people can celebrate life’s moments surrounded by natural beauty.
As Sylviane and Emeric describe it, “It’s more than just a café… It's a place where neighbours gather, friendships are forged, and the simple pleasure of good food in good company is savoured.”
Alongside their determination and thoughtful planning, support from local organizations - including the SDG Counties Regional Incentives Program, played a role in helping them bring the Bed & Breakfast and Farm Café to life, turning their long-term vision into a community-rooted reality.
As Ferme Butte & Bine Farm continues to grow, Emeric and Sylviane are focused on meeting the strong demand at their newly opened Farm Café. While formal events are limited for now, they’ll be participating in Savour the Field on August 22–23 and the Apples & Arts tour in September, two great opportunities to experience the farm firsthand.
