SDG COUNTIES, Ontario – SDG Counties is making it easier for local tourism organizations and operators to plan ahead, with a new fall intake for the SDG Counties Regional Tourism Grant and the launch of a new online application portal.

Beginning this fall, applications will be accepted for projects taking place throughout the 2027 calendar year. The new timeline is a shift from previous years, when applications were accepted early in the year, and will allow successful applicants to know their funding status earlier and better plan for seasonal events, marketing initiatives and tourism projects.

“We know that many tourism organizations are planning their events, marketing and projects months in advance, and our previous intake timeline didn’t always align well with that planning cycle,” said SDG Counties Tourism Supervisor Karina Belanger. “Moving the application process to the fall gives applicants the opportunity to plan ahead and access funding for projects taking place throughout the entire calendar year.”

The Regional Tourism Grant supports initiatives that help attract visitors to SDG Counties and strengthen the region’s tourism offerings. Funding can support new event creation, existing event enhancements, and new tourism products and experiences.

Applications for the 2027 Regional Tourism Grant opened on Oct. 5, 2026, and close on Nov. 16, 2026. Applications will be reviewed following the deadline, with funding recommendations expected in December for eligible projects taking place between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2027.

A new online grant portal will also streamline the application and reporting process, allowing applicants to manage their grant in one place, this can be found at sdgcounties.grantplatform.com.
