Ontario Works office makes special arrangements for delivery of cheques

In light of possible job action by Canada Post workers, the Ontario Works office has put a plan in place to assist recipients in getting their payments and benefits on time.

The plan is effective regardless of whether this region is directly affected by any Canada Post job action or not. It applies to all Ontario Works recipients including those who reside in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG).

Alexandria

Recipients who are serviced by the Alexandria office are invited to pick up their Ontario Works cheque and/or Direct Bank Deposit document (drug and dental cards) on Wednesday, August 31st or Thursday, September 1st at the Alexandria office, between the hours of 1 pm and 4 pm. This also applies to landlords who do not receive Direct Bank Deposit.

Winchester

Recipients who are serviced by the Winchester office office are invited to pick up their Ontario Works cheque and/or Direct Bank Deposit document (drug and dental cards) on Wednesday, August 31st or Thursday, September 1st at the Winchester office, between the hours of 1 pm and 4 pm. This also applies to landlords who do not receive Direct Bank Deposit.

Recipients will be required to provide appropriate ID such as a birth certificate, health card, driver’s licence or passport.

For recipients who receive their Ontario Works payment through Direct Bank Deposit, the payments will be deposited into the bank account as usual.
