The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry will be working on a Tourism Marketing Strategy for 2017.

In order to do this effectively, the first stage of this exercise will be to gather information from the SDG community, to get an understanding of what  organizers/business owners feel has worked in tourism promotion, and where there is opportunity to enhance the marketing initiatives for the region.

This first stage will take place over the next six weeks and will include:

1.Online survey: All SDG businesses and organizations will be invited to participate.

2.Tourism marketing consultation meetings:  additional discussion at three events, mid-June, where a preliminary overview of this process, and more in-depth conversations will be captured as part of this data gathering exercise. 

All sessions start at 6:30 PM to 8:00PM:

Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - Alexandria - Sandfield Centre, 102 Derby Street West, Alexandria, Ontario  K0C 1A0

Wednesday, June 15, 2016 - Long Sault -Township of South Stormont Community Hall, 2 Milles Roches Road, Long Sault, Ontario  K0C 1P0

June 16, 2016 - Winchester - Township of North Dundas, side entrance, 636 St. Lawrence Street, Winchester, Ontario  K0C 2K0

3.Phone interviews:  A candid phone discussion with SDG organizations where the survey and consultation meeting may not be sufficient or convenient—on request, as well as proposed, through the list of the top tourism assets as identified through the local Economic Development Officers.  This phone interview will provide an additional venue to discuss gaps, successes and future options for an effective marketing approach, 2017 and beyond.

The second stage will be to gather the information gleaned through the above three data gathering elements and group the common threads of gaps, successful marketing tools, and potential future opportunities.

The third stage consists of analysing the data, and providing a preliminary snapshot of what the 2017 tourism marketing strategy would be… based on promotional pricing, timeframe, budgets and resources.
