We would like to Invite You to Participate in this Years' SDG&PR Local Food Challenge!
What is the local food challenge?
From August 14-23rd, we are challenging residents in the Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Prescott, Russell, and Cornwall areas to eat as much local food as they can and share their experiences on social media.
Why a local food challenge?
The point of the challenge is to increase awareness and interest in local food in the community, as well as connect residents and local food producers and vendors. We know that you work hard to serve your community and we would like your help in offering an opportunity to engage community members in an initiative which will be both fun and rewarding for all involved!
How does the challenge work?
Residents of any of the participating counties can register online for free and are then provided with resources to track and share their local food use. Throughout the challenge, participants are encouraged to:
Purchase foods close to home (and maybe out of their comfort zone)
Meet their local farmer
Try new local restaurant or menu items
Learn new cooking and/or gardening skills
Connect with other like-minded community members
What we want from you:
Help in promoting the local food challenge to your patrons which we will supply you
Permission to use your name, logo and contact information as a resource to participants on our website and social media pages
What we are offering you:
Free promotion through social media as part of the challenge
An opportunity to be involved in positive, community-empowering initiative and be listed as a partner on our website and social media
A central space to meet local vendors, farmers, and community partners like yourself who are equally invested in the local food system.
We will provide you with a media toolkit to help you promote the challenge, but you are also welcome and encouraged to find other ways to engage your community in the challenge!
How do you sign up?
