THE COUNTY - An increase in positive COVID-19 cases in the Eastern Ontario Health Unit region over the last day is a strong reminder of the importance of following public health advisories on staying home and physical distancing, as the threat of spreading the virus grows.
SDG, municipal partners declare state of emergency
THE COUNTY, Ontario - In response to growing concerns over COVID-19 in Eastern Ontario, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G), the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) and the City of Cornwall have declared a state of emergency today as of 4:00 PM in an effort to slow the spread of this highly contagious virus.
The City of Cornwall’s Social and Housing Services department will be distributing new funding from the province. The city is the social housing service provider for SDG.
The Government of Ontario announced Monday that they will provide $200 million in social services relief funding to help protect the health and safety of the province’s most vulnerable people in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Premier Doug Ford has announced that all non-essential businesses must close on Tuesday March 24 by 11:59 p.m. Below is a copy of the order.
