SDG, municipal partners declare state of emergency

THE COUNTY, Ontario - In response to growing concerns over COVID-19 in Eastern Ontario, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G), the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) and the City of Cornwall have declared a state of emergency today as of 4:00 PM in an effort to slow the spread of this highly contagious virus.

New social housing funding during COVID-19 outbreak

The City of Cornwall’s Social and Housing Services department will be distributing new funding from the province. The city is the social housing service provider for SDG.

The Government of Ontario announced Monday that they will provide $200 million in social services relief funding to help protect the health and safety of the province’s most vulnerable people in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Premier Doug Ford has announced that all non-essential businesses must close on Tuesday March 24 by 11:59 p.m. Below is a copy of the order.

 

For the purposes of this order, businesses include any-for-profit, non-profit or other entity providing the goods and services described herein.

This does not preclude the provision of work and services by entities not on this list either online, by telephone or by mail/delivery.
